Music and Musicians back in time

Amazing how Music is eternal long even after the singers have passed away. Generations of music are different each decade and are associated with the hip thing on that particular generation. There was a myth that SEX, DRUGS, AND ROCK N ROLL are not successful without one another, which lead humanity to believe that one needs drugs to be a ROCKSTAR which is total trash. The popularity of Rockstars was influenced by great Rockstars before them. Ironically most of the biggest Rockstars died, and those who followed them didn’t learn.

Paul McCartney of the Beatles is one of the first example of the effects of drugs on music; it was loud and clear when in 1967 he openly announce he used LSD. Lysergic acid diethylamide also known as Acid is one of the Artist’s choices of poison for its psychedelic effects. LSD was altered his awareness of surroundings, perceptions, feelings and sometimes illusions. Though it is not addictive, however, it delivers psychiatric reaction such as anxiety, paranoia, and delusions.

On the following year, another gift to the world of Music succumb to the use of LSD. There were rumors that during the time when Pink Floyd was one of the most popular bands in the underground, the frontman Syd Barrett strumming only a single chord, or not playing at all during shows due to his excessive LSD use.  Barrett was left behind, but after a few albums of honing their writing and sound, they would revisit Barrett as the subject of legendary songs like “Shine on You Crazy Diamond” and “Wish You Were Here.”

In mid-1970’s somehow music industry was of extreme darkness and destructive in lots of ways. Though those times where the hardest because they are the victim of their overindulgence, it was the liberation of talents, creativity, and love. Jimi Hendrix died choking on his vomit; Jim Morrison was found dead in the bathtub.

1975s continues to have stories of excessive partying, promiscuous sex, and use of cocaine. Cocaine or coke is a recreational drug which is commonly snort. It gives the user extreme happiness or euphoria because of its high blood pressure effect. Queen was the most famous band that time with their hit song “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Freddy Mercury, the frontman died because of Bronchopneumonia due to AIDS.

Music genres evolved thanks to Bob Marley’s reggae sending good vibes to the world with of course his choice of poison – Marijuana.
In the 1990’s where the Grunge music genre was born, the most deadly drug was also taken. The Heroin; a pain killer with euphoric effects, incredibly addictive, administered using injection or sometimes could be a powder base. It is four times stronger than morphine and is use to treat fatal pain. Nirvana dominated the entire Music Industry with one song from America that transformed the whole world into grunge and erased the mainstream music alongside Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, and Silverchair. Almost most of them suffered from Heroin addiction, some won the battle and some of them did not.
